BLACKBURN CATHEDRAL
The
Organ Appeal
Our iconic organ is famous for its remarkable sound, innovative design and unique appearance. We need to raise £250,000 to restore it to peak performance.

THE ORGAN APPEAL
Why your support is so important
We need to raise £250,000 to restore the organ to peak performance and as music is so crucial to the life of the Cathedral, we hope all who love the Cathedral, its music and our Walker organ in particular will contribute towards this appeal.
This is a wonderful opportunity to ensure this significant musical treasure continues to inspire generations of organists and composers.
Everyone who plays our organ is overwhelmed by the breathtaking experience; we need to act now to ensure that this instrument remains in the best possible condition.

THE ORGAN APPEAL
How can I show my support?
When the Walker organ was built in 1969, it was as a result of an act of extreme generosity from one man, Mr. William Thompson of Burnley, Lancashire.
Now, we need to raise £250,000 through funding, grants and public donations. The more people who become involved, the easier that will be.
We are aiming to raise the money as soon as possible so that the newly restored organ can sound in all its glory as we celebrate the Cathedral’s Centenary in 2026.
Please pledge your support to protect and enhance this incredible instrument for generations to come.
